In 1990 Wolf and Corey began researching the professional literature on behavioral assessment strategies with the goal of improving their own pre-employment testing service. They arranged to meet with the Rands, and a professional relationship took shape over the next year that eventually led to the formation of the B-PAD Group. The B-PAD Group owns all rights to B-PAD products and trademarks, servicemarks, and copyrights. The B-PAD Group was incorporated in January, 1994 with headquarters in Sonoma, California.
B-PAD's leadership role in video-based behavioral testing is due to the agencies who have used B-PAD and then acted as references for other agencies who were looking for better ways to test candidates. B-PAD is now used by over 400 organizations, some as large as 2,500 sworn officers. An estimated 70,000 candidates have taken B-PAD and it has never been challenged in court. At present, the company has developed video tests for eight occupational groups. All were designed to assess the interpersonal skills and common sense judgment of job applicants.
